Penn Croft Charcuterie Boards

Penn Croft charcuterie boards, a perfect partner to wine tasting

There’s a lot to love about our Penn Croft vineyard and winery tour. Our idyllic vineyards sprawl an impressive twelve acres of the beautiful North East Hampshire countryside, whilst our winery is a modern, state-of-the-art facility built around our dedication to producing great wine.

Our tours are an enjoyable and relaxing experience that give you a glimpse into what it takes to produce English wine, but more importantly, a good opportunity to try our small batch, low intervention whites. But with wine, there is often food, and our tours are no different. We’ve put the same amount of love, care and attention into our charcuterie boards as we do with our wine.

Why a charcuterie board?

Originating in fifteenth century France, charcuterie boards have become a fantastic pairing with wine thanks to the variety and freshness of their ingredients. Typically, a board offers meats, cheeses, breads as well as other complementing components such as olives, nuts and oils.

Our Penn Croft charcuterie boards

We’ve carefully crafted a cheese and charcuterie board to accompany the still wines that we offer during our tour. Our ingredients are all from surrounding counties, and we also offer beer, cider and soft drinks if your palette is looking for something different. Honestly, we won’t be offended if you’d like something other than wine!

Our cheese – Lyburn Farmhouse Cheesemakers

Lyburn Farm, based in the New Forest, has been an active dairy farm since 1969, producing a variety of handmade cheeses from their own cows’ milk. Their range is a softer, more continental approach to cheese with creamy, smooth textures, closer to a Gouda than cheddar. We love Lyburn because of their wonderful heritage and the fact that they’re doing something a little bit different.

Our meat – The Real Cure Company

Based in the heart of North Dorset, The Real Cure uses only the finest local ingredients to create their award-winning meats. Their traditional process of curing, fermenting, smoking and air drying is what makes their produce really stand out, from wild venison chorizo to white pepper and fennel salami. Meat isn’t for everyone but we rest assured that quality and welfare are top of the list at Real Cure.

Our beverages – Heron Valley

Heron Valley are producers of delicious artisan juices , from sulphite-free cider to fiery ginger beer. Heron Valley is based in, yes, you guessed it, Heron Valley, a beautiful area near Kingsbridge in South Devon. They’re a family-run farm with a dedication to quality, which is echoed in their excellent internal mantra, “If in doubt, leave it out.”

Our beers & lagers – Andwell Brewing Co

“Great beer at a great price with great ingredients.” Well that sounds pretty great to us. Andwell isn’t far from us, based in Hook, Hampshire, and they’ve built a great name for themselves, brewing light amber bitters, blonde and amber ales, and even seasonal tipples such as porters and ruby ales. Andwell was founded in 2008 (and is still owned today) by a husband and wife team.

So if you’re anything like us, your mouth is watering and you’re keen to book a vineyard and winery tour, even if only for the charcuterie. Of course, our beautiful wines perfectly complement everything that we offer on our boards, and we’re so proud that we can bring together high quality produce from family businesses that share our vision and values for great food and wine.
